October 11th is the ‘Day of the Girl-Child’

What is the Day of the Girl Child? What is it to be born a girl?

Girls Talk is an afternoon workshop for 13-16 year old girls where girls are invited to talk about their experience as ‘girl children’ in today’s world.

Pascal Theatre’s Project Women for Women focuses on key 19th century women in Bloomsbury highlighting their achievements and examining the challenges these women faced to succeed. In this workshop, we will introduce girls to a key 19th century figure.  The girls can reflect on what life was like for this woman aged 13-16 and consider what in society has changed since then. Every girl feels that her experience is fresh but she may be reassured to learn of others fighting similar battles 100 years ago. This is a stimulating enquiry into how a girl may achieve her ambitions and an opportunity to make connections between past and present.

The workshop, run by professional trainers, will take place 2.30pm-4.30pm on Saturday 8 October 2022 at a central London location. Refreshments will be provided.

The event is featured in the heritage programme ‘Unseen London’ supported by the Mayor of London.  London Unseen: Heritage Tours and Trails | London City Hall
